Scouting for All Petitions the Taft, California Parks and Recreation Board: Support Youth Living with HIV, not BSA Discrimination.

July 19, 2007

To The Taft Park and Recreation and City Council Board and other concerned Parties,

I represent a charitable non-profit called Scouting for All. Our web site is www.scoutingforall.org. We have 1,000’s of members nationally and internationally. Our staff is all volunteers made up largely of Eagle Scouts. We are trying to get the Boy Scouts of America to stop its discriminatory policy of excluding gay and atheist children and adults from its scouting program. If the BSA finds out you are gay or atheist child or adult they kick you out.

I recently learned that your board will be voting on whether to allow the BSA to use your park land or the Project Kindle, a program for children living with HIV disease. Scouting for All and its supporters ask that you not give the park land to the BSA Scout council, but to the Project Kindle. The Boy Scouts of America under its current leadership hurts children by teaching them through their bigoted policy that discrimination is acceptable in some cases. The Project Kindle helps children and is inclusive. It doesn’t exclude atheist of gay children who have HIV disease.

Please Vote No against the BSA using the park land and Vote Yes to allow the Kindle Project to use the land.

Sincerely,
Scott Cozza, President
Scouting for All

Scouting For All is not an alternative scouting program.
We are an education and advocacy organization reaching out to gay and nontheist youth and adults in our effort to get the Boy Scouts of America to rescind its exlusionary policy.
