Activist Groups Urge Obama to Reject Boy Scout Honor

Activist groups, including Scouting for All, urge President Obama not to accept the honorary Presidency of the Boy Scouts of America until they stop discriminating.

Scouting for All is a 100% Volunteer 501-(c)(3) Nonprofit Organization. Every dollar donated goes toward our education and advocacy programs, and is tax deductible.

Eagle Scout: "I No Longer Support The Boy Scouts Of America"

I learned of Scouting For All after watching Penn and Teller's "BS" episode. I had distanced myself from the BSA after they added/enforced their "no gays allowed" policy. I'm glad there is an organization that will allow me to try to help change the Scouts back to the organization I knew when I was younger.

I am a gay Eagle Scout. I joined Scouts as soon as I was old enough and actively participated most of my pre-adult life. I was presented my Eagle by astronaut Gen. Thomas Stafford. I was Junior Assistant Scoutmaster for my troop in Weatherford, Oklahoma. I helped start a joint Aviation Explorer post / Civil Air Patrol unit for southwestern Oklahoma.

Once I learned of the BSA's discriminatory policies I ended my support for the organization. I think these policies are unfortunate and should be changed. I would be interested in learning how I can help save Scouting and return it to what it once was.
