Activist Groups Urge Obama to Reject Boy Scout Honor

Activist groups, including Scouting for All, urge President Obama not to accept the honorary Presidency of the Boy Scouts of America until they stop discriminating.

Scouting for All is a 100% Volunteer 501-(c)(3) Nonprofit Organization. Every dollar donated goes toward our education and advocacy programs, and is tax deductible.

A Young Man Hoping to Become a Professional Leader for the Boy Scouts of America

I have been active in the scouting program since I was six years old. In 19** I made my Eagle and then went on to receive an Eagle Palm. Currently I am attending college working on a degree in recreation, I hope someday to become a scouting professional. It is because of this I wish not to disclose my name because I feel as a professional I will be able to make a more significant change in policy. I am personally not homosexual, however I see no reason to discriminate against homosexuals, atheists, etc. Boy Scouts as a program is a wonderful program, it has taught me more valuable life skills than I feel I could have picked up almost anywhere else, just a month ago I had the privilege of saving a mans life with the skills that I learned in the program. The program is not a bad program, it is the organization and it's policies that are bad. One of the points of the Scout Law is respect, the scouting program is violating it's own Law in banning people from the program for their sexual orientation and religion. There are other points of the Scout Law that we could also say National is violating such as: Courteous, Kind, and
Friendly. The military changed their ways, when are we?

We are an education and advocacy organization reaching out to gay and nontheist youth and adults in our effort to get the Boy Scouts of America to rescind its exlusionary policy.
