Activist Groups Urge Obama to Reject Boy Scout Honor

Activist groups, including Scouting for All, urge President Obama not to accept the honorary Presidency of the Boy Scouts of America until they stop discriminating.

Scout decision in 'Hamp gets mixed reaction

Reactions were mixed yesterday to the decision by the Hampshire Community United Way to stop giving money to the Boy Scouts because of their national stand against homosexuality. "I think it's the right decision," said Felice Yeskel, director of the Stonewall Center, a lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender educational resource center at the University of Massachusetts. "I think it's very discriminating. It doesn't make sense for the United Way to engage in discriminatory practices." Daniel C. Dillon, president of the Berkshire United Way in Pittsfield, said, "I was surprised."

Scouting For All is not an alternative scouting program.
