Activist Groups Urge Obama to Reject Boy Scout Honor

Activist groups, including Scouting for All, urge President Obama not to accept the honorary Presidency of the Boy Scouts of America until they stop discriminating.

Scouting for All is a 100% Volunteer 501-(c)(3) Nonprofit Organization. Every dollar donated goes toward our education and advocacy programs, and is tax deductible.

Dear Mr. Williams,

As Scout Master of Troop 103 in east Harlem, I have witnessed tremendous achievement by the young men we serve. The Boy Scout Oath and Scout Law are the launching pad for these boys to overcome the odds, go to college and make something of their lives.

But the discriminatory and bigoted policies of the national Organization of the Boy Scouts of America do not follow the Oath and Laws they proclaim.

Troop 103 will not discriminate against any boy or adult volunteer regardless of sexual orientation or religious belief.

The Boy Scouts of America should not act like a private club for an exclusive group of people who pay to be on the board. It is an American Institution like the American Flag and should represent all the people of this great nation. I urge the board of directors of the Boy Scouts of America to return this American Tradition to the American people and change it's policies to reflect the values that made this country the greatest country in the world.
