Activist Groups Urge Obama to Reject Boy Scout Honor

Activist groups, including Scouting for All, urge President Obama not to accept the honorary Presidency of the Boy Scouts of America until they stop discriminating.

Scouting for All is a 100% Volunteer 501-(c)(3) Nonprofit Organization. Every dollar donated goes toward our education and advocacy programs, and is tax deductible.

Words of Support From An Eagle Scout and Scouting for All Member

Congratulations Scott. Wish I could have been there. Keep the flame burning.

On Sunday, I attended a Court of Honor at which Calvin Metcalf was awarded his Eagle in Acton Mass. He was eloquent in his words about affirming the religious convictions of all and that reverence and respect for diversity was his vision of the Boy Scout Law. It was the first time in a number of years that I felt no reservation about standing in front of an audience at such a presentation.

Calvin is 18 and a member of our Unitarian/Universalist church. He asked that we hold his ceremony at our church, but we told him we could not without troop and Council action to distance itself from the BSA. He understood and hoped to make a statement with his ceremony, but his troop and council declined to do so and we declined to host the ceremony. Nevertheless, he influenced the ceremony such that his scoutmaster did not once state the terms duty to god and country - rather, it was duty to country. Small steps, but that troop is now aware of the issues.

Keep up the good work. The news about the Cradle of Liberty Council is wonderful.
