Activist Groups Urge Obama to Reject Boy Scout Honor

Activist groups, including Scouting for All, urge President Obama not to accept the honorary Presidency of the Boy Scouts of America until they stop discriminating.

Welcome to Giraffe Heroes Country

New Giraffe honoree Fred Mednick stepped right off a cliff when he realized the potential of teachers around the world to bring positive change to their communities. He left an ideal job as headmaster of a private school and started Teachers Without Borders, an internet conduit of information, both academic and social, and a way for teachers around the world to network with each other. Project President John Graham just keynoted the People to People Student Ambassadors Conference in Orlando, then led an array of workshops for the teen attendees. "Each one of them went back home with a complete plan for solving some problem in their community that was important to them," he reports. "I'm confident they'll carry out those plans. And I went home optimistic about young people in America. There's great energy and idealism out there and it was immensely satisfying to show so many great kids how to use Giraffe action techniques to make a difference."
