Activist Groups Urge Obama to Reject Boy Scout Honor

Activist groups, including Scouting for All, urge President Obama not to accept the honorary Presidency of the Boy Scouts of America until they stop discriminating.

Scouting for All is a 100% Volunteer 501-(c)(3) Nonprofit Organization. Every dollar donated goes toward our education and advocacy programs, and is tax deductible.

United Way of Blair County President Kevin Davis Places his head in the Sand Regarding the Boy Scouts of America

Dear Mr. Davis:

While your response to my letter of January 10 was prompt, your equivocations failed to address the issue of funding the Boy Scouts.

One of the critical needs of the community is "Nurturing Children and Youth."

Undoubtedly, BSA deems itself eligible in that category. How can you possibly fund an "area" without giving money to organizations? I would really like to understand how that works.

Furthermore, United Way's non-discrimination policy (as stated in the website) is crystal clear that you must "ensure that each organization" funded " maintains a policy of non-discrimination."

It would behoove United Way of Blair County to claim the moral high ground by refusing to contribute to discrimination and civil rights violations perpetrated by Boy Scouts of America.
