The BSA Leadership Just Doesn't Get It: Their Discrimination Is so Blatant That They Are Blinded
By Their Own Bigotry. Here is a case Example - Redwood Empire Council Boy Scouts of America, Santa Rosa California
"Thought you might be interested in this.....what gets me is that they are a discriminatory organization and
they just don't get the reason why they can't distribute literature or that they themselves should lose federal
funding for their actions based on the current policy."

Dear Scouter,
Over the past few years, several school districts have made the decision to not allow flyers of the Boy Scouts
of America to be distributed in their schools. If the BSA is being treated just as any other organization, then
the school is actually within their right to do this. But if they are discriminating against the BSA and not treating
us as they treat other organizations, they run some serious risk of losing federal funding.
After speaking with the National Council, we are going to make another attempt to make sure that we are treated
fairly under the law.
I need your help.
In order to prove that we are being treated unfairly, I must be able to show examples of the types of flyers being
sent out by other organizations in schools that we are not allowed to. If you have some samples of flyers being
sent out by other organizations, please get them to me at the Council Service Center, or fax them to me at 546-8163.
There is some time sensitivity to this request. If it is at all possible, please get these to me by April 12.
I have promised to try and provide National with these examples by then.
I know that this is a pretty short time frame for this, I am hoping that some of you have some of these flyers
that have been recently sent home and can get them to me.
Thanks for all you do for Scouting. Hopefully we will be able to resolve this soon.
Sincerely,
Ralph Voelker
