Boy Scouts of America National Executive Board is 33% Mormon
March 8, 2008
Therewere 72 members on the National Executive Board of the BSA in 2001. Of those, 24 were found to be Mormons.
Three more are probable Mormons. Thus the National Executive Board was at least 33% Mormon in 2001. There was
little change in 2003, the last year that we have recorded history.
Mormons on the National Executive Board of the BSA (2001)
I did a Google search of all the members of the National Executive Board using the following search string: "Name
of Individual" Mormon OR LDS. I accepted the 'hit' as direct confirmation if the individual's name (complete
with middle initial or name), 'Mormon' or 'LDS' showed up in the metatag summary. In addition, there had to be
a reference to the city and state that matched the listing in the Board roster. The following 24 names were confirmed:
Thomas D.Allen, Timothy J. Brox, R. Thomas Buffenbarger, M. Anthony Burns, Anderson Chandler,Philip M. Conort,John
C. Cushman III, A. David Davis, Robert M. Gates, T. Michael Goodrich, John Gottschalk, Earl G. Graves,Richard
C. Halpern, F. Melvin Hammond, Michael D. Harris, Thomas S. Monson, Jose F. Nino, Francis H. Olmstead Jr., Vittz-James
Ramsdell, Lt. Gov. Winthrop P. Rockefeller, W. Mitt Romney, John F. Smith, Edward E. Whitacre Jr., Roy L. Williams
(Chief Scouting Executive)
National Executive Board Members (2001)Who Are Probable Mormons
The following Board members failed to pass the above test since I couldn't confirm their city and state using
metatag information: Robert T. Merres, Edward C. Joullian III, Frances R. McAllister
