Some Scout Councils of the BSA Question and Some Defy their Policy of Discrimination

Scout Councils across the United States are questioning the BSA's policy of discrimination. Some even before the James Dale Supreme Court decision. Please go to the specific Scout Council listed in this section of our web page to review documents of each Council questioning the BSA's policy.

The Piedmont Council of Piedmont, California, in October of this year, 2000 sent a letter to the National BSA headquarters stating as a Scout Council they would not follow the BSA's policy of discrimination against gay youth, adults and atheists. The Piedmont Council can use your support. You can reach the Piedmont Council at:

The Baden Powell Council of New York in 1992 submitted a letter to the National BSA in Irving, Texas. This letter contained a Resolution asking the BSA to rescind its policy of discrimination.

The Indianhead Council of Saint Paul Minnesota in 1999 called upon the Boy Scouts of America to establish a commission to study the BSA membership requirements and the role of the chartered organization in selecting leaders. A chartered organization is a church, service club or other association that is chartered to operate one or more Scout units. The resolution of the Indianhead Council was referred to the BSA's Relationship Commission.

The Narraggansett Council of Providence, Rhode Island in the summer of 1999 endorsed the Indianhead Council Resolution.
