What You Can Do
Scouting For All's National Campaign
for BSA Members including Scouting Parents, Scout Units, sponsors (Chartering Organizations), and Scout Councils
It is everyone's responsibility to speak out against social injustice, in this case the social injustice
of the BSA. We must not turn our backs on those who are being discriminated against. We encourage parents and guardians
to make sure your child participates in youth organizations that value the diversity of the human family and have
inclusive policies and abide by those policies. In fact the Boy Scouts of America is the only youth organization
in America that discriminates against gay youth and adults. As a people we should all feel offended and violated
by the Boy Scouts of America's policy of discrimination against gay youth and adults and atheists. When one person
is discriminated against we all are discriminated against. The BSA's policy of discrimination is a human rights
violation.
The Scouting For All Volunteer Staff, Members and Volunteers believe Scouting is a wonderful
program, but it should be a program for all youth not just some youth. Lord Baden Powell, the founder of the World
Scouting Movement in 1907 founded Scouting on the principle that Scouting would be offered to all youth and thereby
providing them an opportunity to grow and develop as individuals and to help contribute in making this world a
better place. There is no room in Scouting for bigotry and discrimination.
Through the Scout Oath and Law, the Boy Scout Handbook, and the Citizenship merit badge booklets,
we can see that scouting teaches its members to help make the earth a better place. Discrimination and Bigotry
have never been a part of Scouting. Those in Scouting have an ethical and moral obligation to stand against the
bigotry of its current leadership.
If you are a Scout sponsor (charting organization e.g. churches, service clubs, etc.) insist that your Scout unit
adopt an anti-discrimination policy and send it to the BSA and to your local Scout Council.

"BSA Gives Youth A Harmful Message: Rejecting Gay Kids"
A Call to All Those In Scouting
Scouting For All is calling upon all members of the Boy Scouts of America (adult leaders, paid professionals,
parents and Scouts). We ask that you take a stand against the discrimination of the BSA. To remain silent just
colludes with the discrimination and bigotry of their hurtful policy against gay youth, adults and atheists. Remember
the following quote as you decide what to do:
"In Germany they first came for the Communists and I didn't speak up because
I wasn't a Communist. Then they came for the Jews and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew. Then they came
for the Unionists and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade Unionist. Then they came for the Catholics and
I didn't speak up because I was a Protestant. Then they came for me and by that time no one was left to speak up."
